The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) has published a new ordinance amending the rules and procedures for the capacity reserve auction (LRCAP) for hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants, scheduled for March 18.
According to our consultant Luiz Felipe Monteiro Seixas, interviewed by the BNamericas portal, the adjustments tend to reduce costs and risks, increasing the attractiveness of the event, in which 368 projects were registered, totaling 126.3GW of power.
According to him, the previous rules were stricter with regard to gas transportation contracts, which made projects more expensive and created more obligations for the plants. “What the MME is doing with this resolution is adjusting the requirements and optimizing the model, specifically in the case of gas-fired thermal power plants,” he said.
