Our consultant, Luiz Felipe Monteiro Seixas, was featured in a BNamericas article on the political and regulatory risks and bottlenecks in the Brazilian oil and gas sector.

Among the challenges are the maintenance of the tax on oil exports in Brazil and, in the natural gas sector, the effective liberalisation of the sector.

Recently, the ANP approved the first regulations governing access to liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. However, the issues surrounding gas pipelines and processing units (UPGNs) remain unregulated.

In Luiz’s view, “the result is that we have an important regulatory framework, but one that is still incomplete”.
