Our partner Bernardo da Costa e Silva spoke to *Valor Econômico* in a report covering yesterday’s (25 August) decision by the Board of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) in favour of the takeover bid for Oncoclínicas, valued at around R$ 6.5 billion.
The newspaper reported that the unanimous decision stipulates that this sum must be paid to minority shareholders by the US investment firm Centaurus, which publicly became the company’s largest shareholder in November 2024. Oncoclínicas is currently undergoing out-of-court restructuring to renegotiate a debt of R$ 5.1 billion.
The article also states that the dispute at the CVM has ended, but will continue, as Centaurus has filed an arbitration claim against Latache, the shareholder who led the campaign for the offer and is advised by our firm.
