Ana Luiza Moerbeck speaks to Estadão about the impact of rising oil-related input costs on new road concession contracts in Brazil

Our lawyer Ana Luiza Moerbeck was featured in an article in *Estadão* on the impact of rising oil-related input costs on new road concession contracts in Brazil.

With the recent rise in oil prices on the international market against a backdrop of tension in the Middle East, 23 tenders already launched by the current government, in addition to the 14 others planned by the end of this year, may be exposed to rising costs.

Around half of the concessions planned for 2026 involve contract optimisations that need to be reviewed due to past economic and financial imbalances.

According to Ana Luiza, “the current phase of concessions has sought to improve risk allocation, but has not yet been tested by an event of this magnitude. This is the first major challenge.”
