On 12 May, our partner Thiago Araújo attended the inaugural event of the OAB/RJ Commission for External Oversight of Public Administration, of which he is chair.
The inaugural debate centred on the “new challenges of external control of public administration” and was attended by the president of the Rio de Janeiro Bar Association (OAB/RJ), Rafael Borges; the secretary-general of the new commission, Gabriela Leonardos; the members of the Rio de Janeiro State Court of Auditors (TCE-RJ) Marianna Montebello Willeman and Rodrigo Melo do Nascimento, and the councillor of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Court of Auditors (TCM-RJ), Bruno Maia de Carvalho.
The new commission has been established to stimulate debate on contemporary issues relating to external control, strengthening dialogue between lawyers, oversight bodies and the public administration, as well as promoting studies and initiatives aimed at institutional improvement in this field.
