Our consultant Luiz Felipe Monteiro Seixas was interviewed in a report by BNamericas that addressed the Brazilian government’s plans to hold major auctions in the electricity and oil and gas sectors this year.
According to the article, a capacity reserve auction (LRCAP) for thermoelectric and hydroelectric projects is scheduled for March 18, and a total of 368 projects, totaling 126.3GW of power, have been registered to participate in the competitive process, which has been postponed year after year. The text highlights that the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved the auction notice on February 10, but after being criticized, the government will readjust some points, such as the ceiling prices.
Despite the tight schedule, Luiz Felipe is optimistic about the LRCAP going ahead, given the measures recently taken by the government to make it more attractive. “If there is a delay, it will tend to be a one-off, more to adjust the calendar than to rethink the auction itself,” he told BNamericas.
