The Latin American Lawyer highlighted a case in which eight complementary pension foundations won arbitration proceedings against Cemig Geração e Transmissão. After the dispute ended, the parties signed an agreement in which it was defined that the energy company would pay R$781 million to the foundations to definitively end the litigation.
The publication also highlighted the work of Bocater, Camargo, Costa e Silva, Rodrigues Advogados, which advised the complementary pension fund foundations in the proceedings.
The arbitration, which took place at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), discussed the fulfillment of put option agreements exercised by the foundations before Cemig, related to their participation in the Santo Antônio plant.
