Our partner Mauricio Jayme e Silva was featured in an article on the Suno website about mechanisms to protect against scams, bankruptcies and fraud.
The safety net comprising bodies such as the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), the Loss Compensation Mechanism (MRP), the Special Refund Mechanism (MED) and other Central Bank tools has gained in importance with the rise of digital scams.
According to a survey by the Ponto BR Information and Coordination Centre (NIC.br), 32 per cent of Brazilian internet users experienced some form of attempted scam involving personal data in 2025, and 20 per cent were actual victims.
According to Mauricio, offers promising quick profits, returns well above average and zero risk should be viewed with suspicion. “Investors need to be aware of some immutable truths about investing: financial returns are long-term, there are no risk-free investments, and, above all, investing requires research and patience,” he says.
